One of our recent styling projects in Yarraville, light fills every centimetre of this modern gem, dancing across the floor as the sun rises. The original Edwardian facade at 7 Severn Street hides its modern renovation, where soft earthy tones, large windows and timber feature throughout.
Post Building Studio design director Tim Fullwood said the vision was to create an inner-city haven, “maximising and taking advantage of the light”.
“We wanted to capture it as beautifully as we could,” Mr Fullwood said, highlighting the light-filled, open-plan living and dining room at the rear of the home.
“We put a lot of care and thought into the windows and composing them so they would capture the morning and northern light, as well as passive heating and cooling during the day.
“And you can sit on both sides of the windows (inside and outside). That maximises space.”
In the same space, an angular kitchen bench juts out — breaking up any sense of a traditional room layout.
“We did that so you’re not looking straight at anything,” Mr Fullwood explained.
